Building Recovery Capital

Recovery is about more than reducing substance use—it is also about building the resources, relationships, and opportunities that help people sustain meaningful change. This 2-CEU training introduces professionals to the concept of recovery capital and explores the four domains of recovery capital that can influence an individual’s ability to initiate and maintain recovery.

Participants will learn how to identify strengths and gaps in a client’s recovery resources, recognize factors that may increase vulnerability to relapse, and incorporate recovery capital into assessment and treatment planning. The training emphasizes practical, strengths-based strategies clinicians can use to help clients build supportive relationships, increase access to resources, strengthen personal capacity, and create a life that supports long-term recovery.

Women often experience addiction and recovery through the intersection of trauma, relationships, caregiving responsibilities, mental health, physical health, and social expectations. This 2-CEU training explores the unique biological, psychological, and social factors that can influence women throughout the recovery process.

Participants will examine common barriers women face when seeking and sustaining recovery, including trauma histories, stigma, relationship dynamics, parenting and caregiving demands, and women’s health considerations. The course also explores protective factors and practical, strengths-based approaches professionals can use to support women in building sustainable recovery.

Kratom: What Clinicians Need to Know

Kratom use is becoming increasingly relevant in behavioral health, addiction treatment, and recovery settings. This 2-CEU training provides professionals with a practical understanding of kratom, including its pharmacology, common patterns of use, potential benefits and risks, dependence, withdrawal, and its complex role in recovery and harm reduction.
